IMAGE DISPLAY UNIT USING HOLOGRAM ARRAY AND SPATIAL LIGHT MODULATOR

PURPOSE: Apparatus and method of displaying an image using a hologram array and a spatial light modulator are to form a computer-generated hologram in an array type having a certain configuration, thereby displaying various images. CONSTITUTION: A beam magnifier(12) transforms an input laser beam(11) into a parallel light and outputs the transformed parallel light. A spatial light modulator(13) passes only a specific portion of the parallel light output from the beam magnifier. A spatial light modulator driving controller(18) controls the spatial light modulator depending on a command provided from a personal computer(19). The specific portion of the parallel light again passes a specific portion of a hologram array(14) and is diffracted. The diffracted light passes a lens(15) and it is reproduced into an image on an output plane of a focal plane. A light detector(16) detects the image reproduced on the output plane to display the detected image on a monitor(17) of the personal computer.
