PURPOSE: A frequency screening repeater and a method thereby are provided to offer a frequency screening repeater having a selection function based on each frequency assignment in a forward amplification path, in order to reduce a noise floor generated in a frequency assignment not having a call. CONSTITUTION: A BPF(Band Pass Filter)(310) filters a frequency range a repeater supports from a signal transmitted from a circulator. An LNA(Low Noise Amplifier)(310) is connected with the BPF(310). A divider(330) divides the signal transmitted from the LNA(310) into as much as the number of frequency assignment used in a base station. Filters(340,342,344) filter desired frequency assignment signals from the signals divided from the divider(310). IF(Intermediate Frequency) amplifiers(350,352,354), respectively connected to the filters(340,342,344), amplify the filtered frequency assignment signals. RSSIs(Received Signal Strength Indicators)(390,392,394) measure the output signal levels the IF amplifiers(350,352,354). A comparator/controller(395) transmits a frequency assignment of more than a required level, among the signal levels measured in the RSSIs(390,392,394), to a combiner(360). The combiner(360) combines the signals selected in the comparator/controller(395). A power amplifier(370) amplifies the signal transmitted from the combiner(360). A BPF(380) removes an unnecessary wave from the signal transmitted from the power amplifier and transfers it to a circulator.
