PURPOSE: A method for controlling the audio for digital televisions is provided to employ an equalizer at the voice signal process block, and to optimize the voice. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling the audio for digital televisions includes first thru forth steps. At the first step, the termination of the channel or channel adjustment is checked during performing the normal watch mode. At the second step, the kind of the changed program is detected when the program is changed. At the third step, the optimized voice information is searched corresponding to the kind of the searched program. At the forth step, the audio signal of the changed program is equalized according to the optimal voice color information.
