PURPOSE: A digital monitoring camera recording device is to interface a digital moving image photographed by a digital camcoder to recode it, thereby reducing the amount of the data upon recoding the data in a storage medium. CONSTITUTION: A device detects a motion picture depending on a comparison result from comparing the value obtained from subtracting the average value of the edge data values per the pre-set frames from the average value of the edge data values for the critical frame in a digital image inputted from a digital camcoder with the critical value. The device performs a 1394-interfacing when the motion picture is detected and subsequently transmits it to a recoding medium for recording it.
