PURPOSE: A method of determining the shrinkage of a coke cake is provided to give, in even case of the heterogeneous planarization of the incorporation therein, the exactness for determining it and offer therefore the confidence in its shrinkage. CONSTITUTION: The method is comprised of the following four steps. The volume of coal incorporated is firstly calculated through the exit from a coal incorporating unit. Secondly, an extruder ram is operated, when completed the drying step, to extrude a coke cake into a coke guide, and the level of the coke cake from a reactor is simultaneously detected in order per an hour by the ram. Thirdly, the detection of the level is, when the extrusion is completed, stopped, and the coke level profile is given which shows the level value for the coke at the determining point, based on the level data of the coke cake detected per given hour for operating times. Finally, the shrinkage of the coke cake is derived from the volume of the coke cake calculated from the third step and the volume of the cloak incorporated from the first step. |
