PURPOSE: A method for controlling a set key replacing a remote controller in a VCR is provided to control various functions without a remote controller by making various functions corresponded to all sorts of keys of the remote controller be executed if a user presses a set key on condition that the user presses a remote controller substituting selection key in a VCR set. CONSTITUTION: It is decided whether a remote controller substituting selection key of a VCR set is inputted by a user(101). If the remote controller substituting selection key of a VCR set is inputted, it is decided whether the set key is inputted(102). If the remote controller substituting selection key is not inputted, the corresponding function designated to each set key is performed(103). If the set key is inputted, the inputted corresponding function is performed by driving a remote controller program(104). If the set key is not inputted, it is checked whether a predetermined time(second) is passed(105). If the predetermined time(second) is passed, the function of the remote controller substituting selection key is removed(106).
