<p>Blood ammonia-lowering agents, remedies for hyperammonemia, or remedies for hepatic encephalopathy without any fear of the incidence of side effects wherein xylobiose or a xylooligosaccharide containing xylobiose as the main component is used as a substitute for lactulose to thereby reduce administration dose. Lactulose, which has been employed in drugs, should be administered in a large dose and suffers from a problem in safety when administered to patients with galactosemia or diabetes. These problems can be solved by the above drugs containing xylobiose as the main component.</p> |
