PARALLEL OPTICAL FIBER AMPLIFIER HAVING HIGH OUTPUT CONVERSION EFFICIENCY

PURPOSE: An optical amplifier of 80nm band is provided to have high output conversion efficiency by connecting C-band and L-band silica EDFAs in parallel, and recycling amplified spontaneous emission(ASE) from a C-band EDFA terminal or L-band EDFA terminal as a second pumping light for amplification of the L-band EDFA terminal CONSTITUTION: In an optical amplifier of the present invention, useless amplified spontaneous emission(ASE) from EDFA terminals(110,120) of C-band and L-band is inserted into the L-band EDFA terminal(120) and recycled. When a pumping operation is performed by using a light of 980nm, the output conversion efficiency of the whole system is remarkably increased 24.4% to 31.6%. The optical amplifier has little disadvantage in respect of a noise factor. As a result, the optical amplifier has improved performance.
