Roof construction elements with both heat-insulating and fire resistant characteristics can even be produced in very large sizes when they are built up as a sandwich construction with an upper, corrugated thin steel sheet, under which lies a layer of an insulating foam material, and lying hereunder a moulded layer of mineral material of the clay clinker type with an admixed binding agent, and possibly with a lower cover plate of the thin steel sheet type. The said binding agent should be either non-water-based or based on water glass, which is hardened by the introduction of carbon dioxide.
