ATM JUNCTION APPARATUS AND ITS CONTROL METHOD

PURPOSE: An ATM interface unit having an output physical link tag function and a method for controlling thereof are provided to attach an output link tag to an internal ATM cell and then transmit the cell to a physical link corresponding to the output link tag in order to fairly execute VCI/VPI resource assignment. CONSTITUTION: A MUX part(211) multiplexes an ATM cell inputted from a physical link and outputs it to a router/header translation part(212). The router part of the router/header translation part(212) attaches the output port information and output physical link tag of a 3-layer CSF(Cell Switch Fabric)(213) to the header of the input cell. The header translation part translates the header of the ATM cell into an output VPI/VCI. The 3-layer CSF(213) executes routing for the input ATM cell according to the attached routing tag(215) and outputs the cell to a DEMUX part(214). The DEMUX part(214) selects an output physical link on the basis of the output physical link tag of the cell header and transmits the cell through the selected physical link.
