PURPOSE: A sound absorbing material of air conditioner is provided to increase the sound absorbing efficiency by mounting the sound absorbing material adjacently to the noise source without disturbing the discharge air flow and remove the noise in the upper part of the indoor unit cabinet by placing the sound absorbing material in the upper part of the cabinet with a predetermined gap. CONSTITUTION: In an air conditioner including a cabinet(10) formed with a suction grill(20)and a discharge grill(30), an indoor heat exchanger(40) mounted between the suction grill and the discharge grill in the cabinet, and a blowing fan(20) mounted between the indoor heat exchanger and the discharge grill for guiding the air flow toward the discharge grill from the indoor heat exchanger, a sound absorbing material(80) is mounted in an upper part of the cabinet adjacently to the discharge grill for absorbing noise generated in the blowing fan, wherein the sound absorbing material is mounted under a plurality of supporting elements(90) protruded downward on an upper surface of the cabinet adjacently to the blowing fan as far as the sound absorbing material does not give any influence on the air discharged from the discharging grill.
