摘要 <p>A crossed-field device, such as a crossed-field amplifier, includes a cathode body portion (14) and an anode body portion (16) which cooperate with a crossed magnetic field to maintain electrons in a cycloidal path and to amplify an input signal through the interaction between the electrons and the signal within an interaction space or gap (15). Ceramic grooved windows (25, 26) cover the input and output transformer bodies (50, 51) of the device and provide for reduced secondary emission yield. Additionally, one or more walls of the device are physically structured or chemically treated for further reduction of multipactoring effects. For example, a thin layer of molybdenum oxide may be coated on the anode (16) and/or on the cathode (14) to sustain such multipactoring reduction. Alternatively, one or more of the walls of the device may be grooved for reduced multipactoring operation. The device operates in a switch mode which shuts down between working cycles.</p>
