The method involves checking whether a rear wheel subject to regulation is an inner or outer wheel. If the wheel is an outer one a deceleration threshold is increased according to an acceleration in the lateral direction and if the absolute deceleration exceeds the threshold, brake force distribution regulation is performed at this rear wheel. For an inner wheel the threshold is reduced and regulation performed if the threshold is exceeded.
