At least one connecting bridge having temperature-independent geometry is provided between the two measuring systems (1.1, 1.2). At the points at which the connecting bridges meet the measuring systems, either a fixed connection between the bridges and the measuring system, or at least one measuring device (21.1, 21.2, 21.3,21.4) is provided for determining the displacement between the connecting bridges and at least one of the measuring systems. The connecting bridge may be a light beam. A method of reducing variations in dimensions caused by temperature is also claimed.
