PURPOSE: A method for cutting a cross dual path of an ATM exchange is provided to transmit a cell by selecting a normal path by double-cutting a rear switching terminal when an input port of a front switching terminal is defective in a multi-stage switching structure that cross-doubles the path. CONSTITUTION: When a periodical check of path is requested after establishing a routing path, it is checked if every doubled input path has an abnormal input port. When every doubled input path has the abnormal input port, information about the abnormal input port are stored, and it is checked if input ports of a rear switching terminal selects a normal path only about every routing path that passes the appropriate abnormal input port. When the abnormal input port is selected, a normal path is selected by sending a signal for changing a doubling selective path to an exchange of the rear switching terminal.
