[Also in Division H2] A power-driven hand-held scraper comprises a blade which is curved on its forward and its lower faces and which is oscillated about its longitudinal axis while it is reciprocated. An air or electric motor 2 rotates a shaft 8 carrying a cam 9 against which a follower 14 is held by the pressure of the tool against the work. The cam reciprocates the tool shaft 4 and an eccentric pin 20 in the shaft 8 engages a slot in a spindle 15 on the shaft to oscillate the tool. The motor 32 is connected to the tool housing 6 by a cap nut 33. The operator grasps a knob 12 and a strap 28. A blade insert 37 is welded to a block 35 screwed to a blade 25 clamped by a single screw 26 to a holder 22 on the shaft 4.</p> |
