VACCINE TO PREVENT AND TREAT CHLAMYDIAL INFECTIONS

A method for making vaccine(s) that will (a) prevent an initial infection, (b) prevent a Chlamydial infection from becoming chronic, and (c) clear a persistent chronic infection, comprising the making available, for the safe and effective administration to humans, of selected compounds that (1) elicit an adaptive cellular immune response that is mediated by Cpn-specific CD8+ cells, and which is more effective than that produced by a natural Chlamydia infection, (2) provide long-lasting immunity through stable populations of such Cpn-specific memory CD+8 cells, (3) do not stimulate CD+4 cells in such a way that pathology is exacerbated, but (4) stimulate a Th-1 type of CD4+ response that will amplify the cellular immune response, and vaccine made by this method.
