PURPOSE: A finger print recognizing system using a semiconductor finger print recognizing sensor and the method thereof is provided so that the system can use as a stand alone type by miniaturizing the module by using the semiconductor finger print sensor and integrating the finger recognizing algorithm in the system, simultaneously capable of operating it by using a battery as a low power electric consumption. CONSTITUTION: A finger print recognizing system using a semiconductor finger print recognizing sensor and the method thereof is includes a semiconductor finger print recognizing sensor (80) which outputs a digital original signal according to the difference of the value of resistor by contact corresponding to the pattern of hill and valley of finger print of each pixel when a user's finger print is contacted to a finger print input pad (81) constructed by a plurality of pixels, A first memory (70) remembers temporarily data which is signal processing, including the original signals obtained from the all pixels. A second memory (75) remembers data of minutiae of finger print extracted from the original signals. A system program region (71) remembers a program including a minutiae extraction algorithm, a finger management algorithm and a system control algorithm. A keypad (40) is to input the user's finger print number and a special code. A CPU (60) extracts the minutiae of finger prints according to the minutiae extraction algorithm from the inputted finger prints and executes register and delete processes according to the finger management algorithm in response to the requests for register of a new finger print and for delete of the registered finger print, and further executes the finger print recognizing and authentication by the comparison the minutiae data with the register finger print data in response to the inquiry of the finger print.
