PURPOSE: A side cutting apparatus for manufacturing middle shell roll bending of rotary compressor of air conditioner is provided to simplifying the structure of the side cutting apparatus to cut the middle shell and machining the coupling groove. CONSTITUTION: A side cutting apparatus for manufacturing middle shell roll bending of rotary compressor of air conditioner includes a hollow head(201) rotatable mounted and having a free end, a sleeve(202) formed in the shape of a hollow shaft formed with a slider inserting hole(202a) and fixed at one end of the head to rotate together, a plurality of holding protrusions(220) disposed peripherally for moving in the radius direction to hold a shell(60), a slider(223) connected to the holding jaws and having a slanted inside, a connecting rod(210) of fluid cylinder for reciprocating in the hollow of the sleeve, a holding cone(211) fixed at one end part of the connecting rod for reciprocating in the hollow with the connecting rod and having a slanted slide surface(211') contacting the slanted inside of the slider to move the holding jaws outward when moving forward, an elastic band(224) for returning the holding jaws, and left and right cutters(250,250') for cutting the shell(60) with a predetermined length and machining the coupling groove part(60'') at both sides of the inner periphery.
