PURPOSE: A liquid crystal displayer is provided to compensate the contrast change of a liquid cell according to the change of temperature, thereby sustaining quality of constant level without degrading contrast. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal displayer comprises a liquid cell formed by injecting liquid crystal(6) between transparent upper and lower substrates(2,4), front and rear polarization plates(20,22), and a contrast compensation unit. The polarization plates(20,22) selectively transmit only light vibrated in parallel direction to polarizing axis. The contrast compensation unit is disposed between the liquid cell and the polarization plates, change the phase difference characteristics in accordance with the change of temperature to compensate the contrast change of the liquid cell.
