PURPOSE: A lightweight polyester film is provided, which is widely used for food packing materials due to low surface density, high mechanical properties and gas cutting-off property. CONSTITUTION: The uniaxially oriented polymer film comprises 65-95 part by weight of polyester resin containing metallic salt of sulfonic acid derivative, which is represented by the following formula (I) of R-SO3M and has an acid value of not more than 1.0 milligram KOH, and 5-35 part by weight of styrene resin, where the one or both sides of the film are coated by polyvinylidene chloride resin. In the formula (I), R is a C5-20 alkyl group, and M is an alkali metal or an alkaline-earth metal such as Li, Na, K, Mg and the like.
