PURPOSE: A method for detecting a skew error of a printer is to eliminate a paper by detecting the skew of the paper when the paper is inserted askew into the printer. CONSTITUTION: A user loads a paper onto a paper feeding unit. A width of the paper is primarily scanned by feeding the paper. The width of the paper is secondarily scanned by feeding the paper to a secondarily scanning position. It is determined whether the width of the paper scanned primarily and secondarily is equal to each other or not. If the width of the paper is equal, a printing operation is performed by spraying ink onto the paper using an ink cartridge mounted onto a carrier. If the width of the paper is not equal, the paper is discharged by a roller driven by a motor. At that time, the paper is discharged in a normal direction or an inversed direction. When the paper is discharged, an alarm message is output to notify the discharge of the paper.
