PURPOSE: A method for recognizing a document with a graphic form is provided to improve recognition performance of the document, and correctly reform a diagram, by extracting a line and a feature point that has a directional component, using an opening technique. CONSTITUTION: A line component is extracted by the opening technique(S101). An envelope is obtained from the extracted line component. Four kinds of corners are extracted(S102). With the combination of the extracted corners, a sort of a feature point having a directional component may be defined. A network is formed on a basis of the feature point having the same(S103). A completed network comprises a perfect layout of the diagram. A necessary item is extracted for each cell, using a projection profile and connected component. The extracted item is applied to a recognizer so that it can recognize the item(S104).
