PURPOSE: A method for operating a LAN gateway of a satellite Internet communication network is provided to accept received packets whose IP addresses are registered, to transmit the packets to corresponding hosts, and to clear the received packets when the IP addresses are not registered. CONSTITUTION: A satellite Internet communication network registers IP addresses and subnet masks relating to each host(10n-10n-1) connected to the same LAN of a subnet map table of a LAN gateway(80), and decides whether destination IP addresses of all packets received from a satellite are included in the IP addresses of the hosts(10n-10n-1). If so, the network receives the packets and performs a predetermined processing, then transmits the packets to a corresponding host through LAN. If the received IP addresses are included in the registered IP addresses, the network decides whether a received network address is equal to a self network address. If the received IP addresses are not included in the registered IP addresses, the network clears the received packets.
