PURPOSE: A washing machine equipped a self diagnosing function is provided to find out a defective part and a defective cause by detecting a defect of each unit composed the washing machine and to check a diagnosed content about the defective part and the defective cause. CONSTITUTION: A user inputs a certain functional key for performing a washing among functional keys arranged in a selecting unit of function. A defect of each unit composed a washing machine is diagnosed according to a programmed diagnosing routine by replying the input of key. A defective part and a defective cause are displayed through a display unit according to a diagnosed result. An alarming sound is generated through an alarming unit. The user controls a key for checking the diagnosed records of defect. The diagnosed records of defect written up to now are displayed through the display unit to quickly and exactly perform a repair of the defect.
