PURPOSE: A method is provided to produce a color filter which can be manufactured inexpensively without requiring a complicated process by not forming a black matrix material except an area in which a black matrix is formed. CONSTITUTION: A method for producing a color filter comprises a step of forming color element on pixel area of a substrate(11) having many pixel areas and black matrix areas and a step of forming a black matrix by injecting black ink droplet by ink jet process on black matrix area of the substrate having pixel(14) formed therein. A hydrophobic layer(12) is formed on the substrate. Droplets of red, green and blue color are injected on the hydrophobic layer from a nozzle of ink jet head to form color droplet on a part corresponding to a pixel area of the liquid crystal display in which a pixel electrode is formed. Then, baking is made for curing to form a three color pixel. |
