Water- and dirt-repellent coating for glass, metals, plastics and other materials is produced by flame coating using silicon tetrafluoride and/or titanium tetrachloride in a natural gas/oxygen, methane/oxygen or other hydrocarbon/oxidant flame and has an extremely rough microscopic surface structure. It is suitable for almost all heat-resistant materials and makes window cleaning unnecessary. Water- and dirt-repellent coating for glass, metals, plastics and other materials is produced by flame coating using silicon tetrafluoride (SiF4) and/or titanium tetrachloride (TiCl4) in a natural gas/oxygen, methane/oxygen or other hydrocarbon/oxidant flame and has an extremely rough microscopic surface structure. It is suitable for almost all heat-resistant materials; cannot be wetted by liquid; causes photocatalytic decomposition if particles of dirt stick to the surface; forms a firm bond with various silicate glasses, so that it very durable; and makes window cleaning unnecessary.
