The hydraulic rim brake for a pedal cycle has a brake cylinder (100) actuating a brake pad (103). The brake cylinder has a connecting bracket (302) for mounting it on the bicycle frame (2'') so that it can pivot around an axis orthogonal to the brake pad mounting. The bracket has a bore to receive the pivot pin (303).
