A bandage for parts of the body, whereby said bandage can be tightened by at least one tightening strap that is fastened to the bandage on one end and whose other end can be affixed to the bandage and drawn. The tightening strap is guided back and forth by means of interspaced deflecting rings that are fastened to the bandage and a contraction area is also included, whereby the bandage is shortened in the contraction area as a result of a tensible force being exerted upon the drawn end of the tightening strap in a manner similar to that of a pulley block.
