PURPOSE: A device for protecting a battery of a car audio cassette and a method therefor are provided to prevent unnecessary power consumption of the battery and extend its life span, by checking an overload of the battery for supplying power to a CD player, and intercepting power supply. CONSTITUTION: When a disc is inserted into a CD player in an ACC off state, or when the disc is unstably positioned during the auto-loading operation in the ACC off state, an overload state is checked by constantly attempting to load the disc, and power from the battery(11) is intercepted. As a result, power consumption of the battery(11) is reduced and a life span thereof is increased.
