PURPOSE: A steering wheel of variable diameter type is provided to vary a diameter of a steering wheel only through a switch control, so the convenience of steering is improved. CONSTITUTION: A rim part(2) is formed by arranging several circular rings(5) to the circumference direction. A piston(7) penetrates a housing including the circular rings and is joined with the circular rings to support the circular rings. A cylinder(8) contains the piston and includes an upper chamber and a lower chamber divided by the piston. A compressed oil supplying device supplies the compressed oil for the upper chamber or the lower chamber. A controller(ECU) includes an extension switch(16) and a reduction switch(17), and permits the control signal to the compressed oil supplying device by the signal of each switch.
