A rescue signalling device, for example in the form of a lantern (10), which comprises a buoyant body (20) having a centre of gravity for the body (20) to float in water in a specific neutral position and including a compartment (50) for accommodating a battery (52). The lantern (10) further includes a signal generator in the form of LEDs (46 and 47) powered by the battery (52) for providing a rescue signal. A movement sensitive electrical switch (60) is provided for intermittently turning on and off the LEDs (46 and 47) in response to the body (20) being moved by the water back-and-forth about the neutral position. |
