PURPOSE: A method for automatically setting up links according to registered slots in a digital cordless telephone is provided to carry out link attempts sequentially for all the slots registered according to the priority of the latest link success time. CONSTITUTION: A control part scans a key input part and checks whether an origination key is inputted(301). If the input of the origination key is detected, the control part searches a memory for the data for the currently registered slot(303). Then the control part attempts a link to a high RSSI channel of the slot(305). The control part checks whether a link is set up to the highest priority slot(307). If the link is not set up, the control part checks whether the slots registered in priority exist in the memory(309). If the control part attempts a link to the next highest priority slot. If the link is set up, the control part checks whether a base station mode of the current slot is different from a preset base station mode(315). If the current mode is different from the preset base station mode, the control part modifies the preset base station mode into the current mode(317) and updates the priority data of the current slot into the highest priority(319).
