PRODUCTION OF VINYLIC POLYMERS

A method of producing acrylic polymers by atom transfer radical polymerisation (ATRP) methods is described in which the reaction is carried out in the presence of a chain transfer agent. The resulting polymers show improved thermal stability compared with polymers produced by ATRP in the absence of the chain transfer agent, yet maintain an improved polydispersity as compared with comparable polymers produced by conventional free-radical polymerisation methods.
