PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect a kitchen unit from steam by providing the lower surface of a plate member with a curved surface inclined downward in the circumferential direction, and forming the curved surface as a water flowing surface where water drops flow down along the inclination in a steam collecting device for catching the steam generated from cooking instruments such as a rice cooker. SOLUTION: This steam collecting device installed on the lower side of a kitchen unit 1 is provided with a curved surface disposed on the lower surface of a plate member 4 to be inclined downward in the circumferential direction, and the curved surface is taken as a water flowing surface where water drops 6 flow down along the inclination. In cooking, when rising steam 3 generated from a cooking instrument reaches the water flowing surface 5, some is evaporated as it is, and some is formed into dew to become water drops 6 adhering to the water flowing surface 5. The water drops 6 flow down along the inclination of the water flowing surface 5 in the circumferential direction, and then drop on the kitchen counter in the periphery of the cooking instrument from the peripheral edge of the water flowing surface 5. The water drops 6 on the kitchen counter are evaporated to disappear or may be wiped out by a duster or the like.
