PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mower capable of suppressing damage by fire due to load applied to a motor by vertically movably providing a cord housing part and preventing torque of the motor from transmitting to the cord housing part in a specific case. SOLUTION: This mower is equipped with a motor 1, an operating handle housing a switch for carrying out on-off of the motor 1 and a cord housing part 3 housing almost of a cord 8 made of a resin and rotating by receiving torque of the motor 1. In the mower, the cord housing part 3 is vertically movably provided and when the housing part 3 is located at raising position, the grass mower is constituted so that torque of the motor 1 is not transmitted to the cord housing part 3. As a result, when operation is carried out while pressing the bottom of the cord-housing part 3 to the ground, a spring 7 is elastically deformed by load smaller than pressing force by which such load as to causing damage of the motor by fire is applied to separate clutches 4 and 5. Thereby, the motor 1 is made freely rotatable centering the center line of the shaft part 2 to the cord housing part 3 and becomes idle state.
