PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect a position without being influenced by the damage or the like of a position detecting groove. SOLUTION: This segment position detecting device is provided with a magnetic tape 4 previously provided at the center part of the inner surface of a segment piece 2, and a magnetic sensor 6 fitted to a segment support frame 5 of a segment assembling device. In the state of a new segment piece 2' being supported to the segment support frame 5, the magnetic tape of the existing segment piece 2 is detected, and the discrepancy of the new segment piece 2' is measured from the electric potential quantity.
