FRACTION OF LENTINULA HYPHA EXTRACT AND ITS USE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel medicinal use and/or health use of a Lentinula [a shiitake (mushroom)] hypha extract fraction by obtaining the fraction from a Lentinula hypha extract, studying the structure, and further elucidating the pharmacological effect. SOLUTION: A heteropolysaccharide fraction of a Lentinula hypha extract and a hepatopaphy protective agent containing the heteropolysaccharide fraction can be obtained by treating a Lentinula hypha extract with an ethanol- containing aqueous solution to separate the extract into an ethanol-insoluble fraction and an ethanol-soluble fraction, treating the resulting ethanol-insoluble fraction with an ion exchanger to separate the fraction into an ion exchanger non-adsorption fraction and an ion exchanger adsorption fraction, and subjecting the resulting ion exchanger non-adsorption fraction to gel filtration chromatography to separate the fraction into a homopolysaccharide fraction, a heteropolysaccharide fraction and a low-molecular fraction.
