<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating pollutants in a livestock production facility comprising treating solids and effluents produced from the facility such as a swine housing at low cost and resolving odor problem as well. SOLUTION: This method comprises the following procedure: pollutants such as excreta produced in a livestock production facility are received into a receiving tank 21, separated into a solid 23 and effluent 24 using a solid-liquid separatory means 22, the solid is sent to a solid treatment system, while the effluent to an effluent treatment system; the effluent treatment system has a reserving tank 26 for receiving effluents, a reaction tank 29 for treating effluents with useful microorganisms, a sedimentation tank 30, and a sludge culture tank 32 packed with a packing material 34 essentially comprising humic substance-predominant soil form or pumice comprising such soil form and leachable silica components; in the sludge culture tank 32, useful microorganisms having such functions as biodegradation and assimilation corresponding to organic matter and odor components are proliferated, and then returned either directly or indirectly to the receiving tank, the reserving tank in the effluent treatment system, and the first receiving section of the solid treatment system.</p> |
