PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connection method for H-shaped steel beams and a jointing tool by which a required structure can be inexpensively constructed in a short time of period by easily and firmly fixing the H-shaped steel beam members to a column of an existing construction. SOLUTION: This jointing tool can be detachably attached to a column of an existing construction so as to surround the outer periphery and further, it has a semi-arcuate shape, a U-shape, or an L-shape to firmly fix it to a column 3 with expansible bolts 1B. Fastening edges 1D in which a fastening bolt hole to insert the fastening bolt 1B is formed are bent and extended at the end edge. A gusset plate 1H is extended outward and inserted to connect the web of an H-shaped steel beam 2 at an appropriate position. The jointing tool 1 integrally formed of a gusset plate 1H in which a connection bolt hole is formed, is fixed at an appropriate position of a column B so that the gusset plate 1H is positioned in the tensile direction of the H-shaped beam member 2. Then, the gusset plate 1H is inserted in the end edge web of the H-shaped steel beam member 2 to connect or hold it, and the mutual gusset plates are fixedly connected together with connection bolts.
