PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a curable ultraviolet absorbent capable of curing at ordinary temperature and forming an ultraviolet-blocking film free from bleedout of ultraviolet absorbent by reacting tetrahydroxybenzophenone with an isocyano group-containing alkoxysilane in the presence of a catalyst. SOLUTION: This curable ultraviolet absorber is represented by the formula [X is an alkoxyl capable of providing silanol by hydrolysis of methoxy, ethoxy, propoxy, butoxy, etc.; and R is a 1-3C alkylene chain]. The compound of the formula is obtained by reacting 2,2',4,4'-tetrahydroxybenzophenone with an alkoxysilane having isocyano group in the presence of a catalyst. Another objective coating solution for formation of an ultraviolet blocking film curable at ordinary temperature comprises 0.5-53 wt.% at least one kind of ultraviolet absorbent of the formula, a diluting solvent and a curing catalyst (preferably paratoluenesulfonic acid). Formation of ultraviolet blocking film scarcely causing deterioration with time can be expected by using coating solution.
