PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of the poor quality of a processed article by controlling the rotation of heating rollers in a heating and pressurizing device with a built-in heater. SOLUTION: In a laminator 1 having pairs 5 of heating and pressurizing rollers, which pinch and convey overlaid sheets 2 as a medium so as to transfer an image under heat and pressure, during a heating-up period, the pairs 5 of the heating and pressurizing rollers are controlled so as to rotate to the direction opposite to the inserting direction of the medium as shown in Fig. (a). Further, after the finish of the heating-up, the rotations of the rollers are controlled to rotate in the normal direction of the medium as shown in Fig. (b). Accordingly, if an operator inserts the medium in the laminator during the heating-up period by mistake, since the heating rollers rotate to the direction opposite to the inserting direction, the medium is not carried within the laminator, and a defective laminate and heat transfer due to insufficient heating-up are prevented from developing.
