PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform antibacterial treatment under a continual observance of maintaining constant concentration without causing the precipitation of tannin in a processing liquid by applying the processing liquid including tannin, herb extract and a binder resin to a carpet. SOLUTION: This antibacterial carpet is produced by spraying an processing liquid over the pile part of a carpet in a quantity of 0.1-10 wt.% based on the weight of the carpet and then by the heat treatment at 120-180 deg.C. The processing liquid is an aqueous emulsion and is prepared by adding a surfactant to a composition comprising 100 pts.wt. tannin from catechins, 10-50 pts.wt. at least one kind of herb extract selected from chamomile, beefsteak plant and aloe, and 40-1,000 pts.wt. binder resin such as a polyurethane resin.
