PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a nonwoven fabric excellent in biodegradability, mechanical characteristics and operability in production by arranging a polyhydroxyalkanoate (co)polymer in the core part and arranging a polybutylene succinate (co)polymer, etc., in the sheath part. SOLUTION: Polyhydroxyalkanoate or its copolymer, e.g. a copolymer such as poly-3-hydroxybutylate/poly-3-hydroxyvalerate copolymer or poly-3- hydroxybutylate/poly-4-hydroxybutylate copolymer is used as a core component and a polybutylene succinate, polyethylene succinate or a copolymer thereof having >=2,000 average molecular weight is used as a sheath component and these components are melted and discharged from a conjugate nozzle to afford a conjugate fiber having 0.8-10μm sheath part thickness and >=70 deg.C core-sheath both components eutectic point, which is then formed as a web by a spun- bonding method and partially heat-bonded by a heating emboss roller, etc., to obtain the objective nonwoven fabric composed of biodegradable core-sheath type conjugate fiber.
