PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent abnormality of a plate-thickness profile in the width direction after a grinding by previously measuring the plate-thickness profile of a steel plate in the width direction before the grinding, and by controlling pressing force distribution in the width direction in relation to a Billey roll according to the plate-thickness profile during the grinding. SOLUTION: A plate-thickness profile of a steel plate 1 in the width direction is previously measured before a grinding, and the result is taken into a grinding control panel 16. Following transportation of the steel plate 1, a measured portion of the plate-thickness profile is tracked. When a specific portion arrives at a grinding machine 5, according to the previously taken plate-thickness profile, respective pressing pressures of Billey roll backup rolls 14 are controlled. This control is sequentially performed for each grinding machine 5. Thus, plate- thickness dispersion after the grinding in each grinding machine 5 can be minimized, final plate width variation in the width direction after completion of the grinding can be reduced, and abnormality of a plate-thickness profile in the width direction can be prevented. |
