PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform motor cooling efficiently during print waiting time while reducing noise and power consumption without requiring a temperature control means, e.g. a thermistor, in a printer having a fan for cooling a paper feed motor. SOLUTION: Driving time of a paper feed motor 1 integrated during print waiting time of a printer is recorded in a timer 34 and a driving rate calculating section 35 calculates a motor driving rate by dividing the integrated driving time by a constant time value as a unit. A fan 2 is driven if the motor driving rate exceeds a reference driving rate A% and stopped if it is lower than a reference driving rate B%. When the motor driving rate is between the reference driving rates A% and B%, current operating state of the fan 2 is sustained. |
