PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a raw material effective in the fields of medicines, health foods, etc., by using laver as a raw material. SOLUTION: This laver enzymolysis product comprises a peptide mixture which is obtained by hydrolyzing laver with pepsin and has a hypotensive action. When the laver as the raw material is preliminarily boiled for >=1 hr before hydrolyzed with the pepsin, and then subjected to the removal of the soup, the hypotensive action is enhanced, and the bitter taste, smell, viscosity, etc., of the laver enzymolysis product are removed. Thereby, the laver enzymolysis product is more useful as the hypotensive agent. The laver enzymolysis product further has effects contributing to health, such as a hypoglycaemic action, a hypocholesterolemic action, and a calcium precipitation-inhibiting action, and can be added to foods to prepare health foods. When the laver is hydrolyzed with the pepsin and further with an enzyme having a peptidase activity, the product giving a good taste and thereby suitable as a food additive can be obtained. |
