PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic wave probe excellent in safety without damaging the surface of an eye. SOLUTION: In this ultrasonic wave probe composed of a probe main body 1 provided with an acoustic matching layer 5 formed by fixing a piezoelectric element 4 in a concave shape onto a backing material and an outer side case 2 formed by housing the probe main body while exposing the front surface to be an ultrasonic wave transmission/reception surface, an outer peripheral side face including the front surface of the probe main body is projected out from the opening surface of the outer side case.
