PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the circulation of a lubrication oil of an oil pump side, by making the oil level of an oil basin, at the bottom of a hermetic container, higher at a compressing part than at the oil pump side, by holding an electric motor at the center. SOLUTION: This horizontal hermetic type compressor is provided with a compressing part 3 to compress a coolant; an electric motor 2 to drive the compressing part 3, a shaft having a lubrication oil delivery route 8, as well as transmitting the torque of the electric motor 2 to the compressing part 3, and an oil feed pipe 13 to such the lubrication oil from an oil basin 12, in a sealed container having the oil basin 17 at the bottom part, and an oil pump 11 to feed the lubrication oil from one side end of the shaft to the sliding part of the compressing part 3 through the lubrication oil delivery route 8. In such a hermetic type compressor, the oil basin 12 is composed at the bottom part of an electric motor room to house the electric motor 2, and a block member 17 to reduce the volume of the compressor is provided between the compressing part 3 and the electric motor 2.
