PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passenger conveyor that can facilitate and shorten the inspection of its handrail drive. SOLUTION: A handrail drive 10 is disposed about an inclined portion between a foot floor and a head floor at both of which a handrail 9 moves horizontally or about an inclined handrail return portion 9A within the parapet. The handrail drive 10 is actuated by an upper sprocket via a handrail driving chain 11. The parapet is fitted with a sectional parapet panel 7, whose edges about the handrail drive 10 are formed linearly so as to make panel mounting/ dismounting portions 7A adapted to be placed in and out of position for the inspection of the handrail drive 10. The inspection work is thus carried out more efficiently.
